Dia de Nuestra Señora

September 8th
A local Baja holiday celebrating Baja’s first mission.

Grito de Delores (Cry of Dolores)

September 15th
The Grito de Dolores marks the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. Each year on September 15 (around 11pm), the President rings the bell of the National Palace and recites the cry uttered by a priest from the town of Delores.

Día de la Independencia

September 16th
Mexican Independence Day commemorates the start of the Independence War by Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1810. Parades are held and many schools are closed.
