The Punta Sur is a great option for those staying in San Jose del Cabo as its 9 holes weave right through the hotel zone. 3,153 yards provide golfers with views of the Sea of Cortez and the beautiful beaches surrounding the course.
The Punta Sur was formerly known as San Jose Municipal Golf Course and designed as part of FONATUR – the Mexican government’s development agency.
In 2004 the Mayan Resorts acquired the course and it was called the Mayan Palace Golf Course.
In 2009, it changed hands again and became known by the current name – Punta Sur Golf Course.
Although Punta Sur is a public course, the Mayan Palace offers many amenities.
The courses have a male handicap of 28 and a female handicap of 36.
Courses are available as early as 7am and take approximately 4 hours.
The green fees at Punta Sur are $100. Punta Sur doesn’t have rates for twilight hours, but after 1pm the cart is included with the green fee.
No reservations are needed.
Golf cart rentals are $38 for 9 holes and $44 for 18 holes.
Punta Sur has two types of golf clubs for players to rent.
Taylor Made Golf Clubs are $25 for 9 holes and $45 for 18 holes. Physics Golf Clubs are $20 for 9 holes and $35 for 18 holes.
Punta Sur requires golfers to wear appropriate golf attire. Shorts, cutoffs or swimwear are not allowed on the golf course.
