Are you still looking for a Halloween costume? I know what it is like – I am always that person who leaves the costume to the last minute. I’m always looking for something creative.
But this year we’ve done some of the hard work for you. Whether you are in Cabo or not, here are some Cabo influenced costumes for you – with a little history.
This English pirate was the first man to intentionally circumnavigate the globe. In 1587 Cavendish captured the 600-ton Santa Anna off Cabo San Lucas. The Spanish ship’s cargo included over 122,000 silver dollars.
The Costume: Cut jagged edges in an old pair of pants around the knee and wear knee high socks under them. Find a shirt that is a few sizes too big and tie a rope or sash around the shirt.
The Accessories: A bag full of silver dollars and a sword.
This famous French ecologist, inventor and scuba diver helped develop the aqua lung which made extensive underwater exploration possible. Cousteau is also credited with finding the sand falls – a popular diving spot of Cabo San Lucas divers. He also nicknamed the Sea of Cortez the “Aquarium of the World.”
The Costume: One of the most recognizable things about Cousteau was his red hat. Pair it with a blue shirt for the perfect Cousteau look.
The Accessories: Bring along a snorkeling mask and maybe one of his books.
One of the most well-known names in golf, Nicklaus has been credited with turning Cabo San Lucas into one of the top golf destinations. There are 5 soon to be 6 Jack Nicklaus courses in the Los Cabos Area (Quivira is set to open in 2011).
The Costume: You will need to wear a collared shirt and a pair of slacks to be this golfer.
The Accessories: Bring along a golf club. Or a gold colored teddy bear (he is known as the golden bear).
I’d love to hear what you are going to be for Halloween! Feel free to share.
