With more than 25 dive sites surrounding the island, La Paz is perfect for divers of all experience.
Amateurs will have plenty of opportunities to experience the magnificence of the ocean with La Paz diving. Protected from the wind, Whale Island is perfect for first time divers. This tranquil location has many caves and coral reefs that you can explore along with artificial reef development, making it a great place to observe sea life. The Salvatierra Wreck dive is a great site for inexperienced divers. In 1976 a 91m ferryboat sank and has since become an artificial reef making it a fantastic place to observe sea life.
La Paz diving also offers many unique sites for more experienced divers. Isla Los Islotes lets you explore underwater rock caves and observe a friendly colony of sea lions. On this dive you will also see many natural rock structures including an arch that you can swim through. El Bajo is a La Paz diving treasure. Advanced divers will encounter a large underwater mountain and schools of up to 100 hammerhead sharks. You may also come upon some Panamic green morays and other small sea life that live in a small canyon on the mountain.
